Bill Thompson is joint lead of the New Forms of Value programme in BBC Research & Development, looking at how the BBC can deliver its public service mission online.  A well-known technology journalist, Bill appears regularly on Digital Planet on BBC World Service radio.  He is an Adjunct Professor at Southampton University. In the 1990’s he was head of the Guardian newspaper’s New Media Lab, and one of the team at PIPEX that brought internet access to the UK.
